Russia resumes gas supply to Italy

Rome: Gazprom, a Russian energy company, has restarted gas exports to Italy via Ukraine’s Trans Austria Gas Pipeline (TAG). The corporation made the announcement in a statement issued on Wednesday. TAG transports the majority of Russia’s gas to Italy. It travels from Austria to Italy via Tarvisio on the Austria-Italy border.

Gazprom reported yesterday that it and Italian energy firms have agreed to work together to implement some of the legislation changes that took effect in Austria at the end of September and that Austria has accepted Gazprom’s transport nomination.

On Saturday, Gazprom notified Italian energy provider Eni that it was temporarily stopping gas shipments to Italy, citing the Austrian energy operator’s refusal to approve transit nominees. However, the Austrian regulatory authority, E-Control, issued a statement noting that it had alerted the worldwide community about the changes in the legislation that took effect on Saturday.
