Thousands Celebrate St Patrick’s Day as Parades Showcase Irish Culture Across the Country

Dublin: St. Patrick’s Day parades took place across Ireland, honouring the country’s patron saint and celebrating Irish culture, heritage and identity.

In Dublin, tens of thousands of spectators lined the streets to watch the national parade, with strong participation from both local communities and immigrants, including members of the Indian community.

‘Roots’ Theme Takes Centre Stage

This year’s parade was held under the theme “Roots,” reflecting the people, places and stories that connect Irish identity.

The event featured 12 large-scale floats, over 150 performers, and more than 3,000 participants, creating a vibrant display of creativity and storytelling.

More than 1,000 personnel from An Garda Síochána were deployed across Dublin to ensure safety during the celebrations.

Vogue Williams Leads Celebrations

The parade’s Grand Marshal was Vogue Williams, a Dublin native and prominent media personality known for her work in broadcasting, fashion and entrepreneurship.

Williams described the role as a great honour, saying it provided an opportunity to showcase Irish creativity and storytelling on a global platform, including in cities such as London.

Historic First for Kinlough

Meanwhile, the village of Kinlough in County Leitrim marked a unique milestone by hosting its first-ever St Patrick’s Day parade, which also became one of the earliest in the country.

The celebration began at midnight and featured tractors, floats and music, making it a memorable and historic occasion for the local community.
