17 DART Stations to Close for Three Days During October Bank Holiday Weekend

Dublin: Seventeen DART stations are scheduled to close from Saturday, October 24, to Monday, October 26, to facilitate essential engineering and maintenance works. The closures will result in significant disruption to DART services over the October Bank Holiday weekend, with trains operating only between Malahide and Grand Canal Dock.

The engineering works will take place on sections of the network between Grand Canal Dock and Bray, and between Howth Junction and Howth.

Stations affected by the closures

The following 17 stations will be closed during the three-day period:

Bayside, Sutton, Howth, Lansdowne Road, Sandymount, Sydney Parade, Booterstown, Blackrock, Seapoint, Salthill and Monkstown, Dún Laoghaire, Sandycove and Glasthule, Glenageary, Dalkey, Killiney, Shankill and Woodbrook.

Passengers travelling to or from these stations are advised to check alternative transport arrangements before setting out.

To assist passengers during the disruption, Leap Card travel options have been extended to relevant Transport for Ireland (TFI) services in the affected DART area, according to the information provided. Passengers should check the applicable routes and ticketing arrangements before travelling.

Irish Rail said most engineering and maintenance work is scheduled to take place overnight, allowing services to operate with minimal or no disruption in many cases. However, the company acknowledged that some works could not be completed without affecting services.

Autumn timetable changes for DART and commuter rail

Separately, Irish Rail has announced changes to DART and Dublin commuter rail timetables for the autumn season, when falling leaves can affect railway operations.

The revised timetable is scheduled to apply across the Dublin region from Monday, September 21, until December 12.

Journey times on DART and commuter rail services may increase by between one and three minutes during the morning and evening peak periods.

Passengers are advised to check revised departure times carefully, as some morning services will leave earlier than usual. Travellers should allow extra time for their journeys and consult Irish Rail’s latest service updates before departure.
