Power was also cut off on Center Park Road. As a result, Kojak’s show at the Cork Opera House was cancelled. The evening concert began late. It became difficult to obtain money from people in bars and other public places. There were long queues at every ATM.

According to the ESB, the issue was caused by equipment failure at the Liberty Street substation. The fault affected 5,595 customers, according to ESB. The ESB apologised to customers for any inconvenience caused by the power outage.
