Cork’s Indian community paid tribute to Deepa Dinamani, who passed away untimely

Cork: The Indian community in Cork paid tribute to the memory of a local woman who passed away unexpectedly.

More than a hundred and fifty Indians came to the home of Palakkad native Deepa Dinamani, who was murdered by her own husband last Friday at the Cardinal Court in Cork, to console her family.

The ceremony was organised in a short period of time by the Pravasi Malayali Association in Cork in solidarity with Deepa, her family, and the Indian people of Cork. The ceremony was attended by representatives and members of the World Malayali Council, WMC, COINNS, and FACE Ireland organisations.

The Malayali community arrived at the Cardinal Court green area in Wilton around eight o’clock yesterday evening and laid flowers and lit candles in front of the house where Deepa was murdered.

Since Deepa and her family arrived in Cork only three months ago, not many people knew Deepa. Organisers said the Indian community in Cork was deeply saddened by her tragic death and stood by her family, especially her five-year-old son.
