Dublin: Ireland is enduring a spell of severe cold, with a yellow-level ice warning in effect across the country since last night. This advisory is expected to remain in place until tomorrow afternoon, as temperatures continue to plunge, causing disruptions in various regions.
Cold Snap and Heavy Snow Impact Regions
The western counties of Limerick, Mayo, Donegal, Galway, and Sligo have been blanketed by snow, with areas near Dublin—including Meath, Wicklow, and Clare—also experiencing significant snowfall.
Overnight snow and ice have caused partial disruptions to public transport and power services, particularly across the west, midlands, and southwest. Schools in many affected areas have closed due to hazardous conditions.
Storm Bert to Replace Arctic Chill
While the current cold spell has gripped the nation, the Met Éireann has confirmed a shift in weather patterns. The extreme cold and snow will soon give way to Storm Bert, bringing heavy rain and strong winds starting Friday night.
