Urgent Recall of 10,200 Baby Soothers Due to Choking Hazard
Dublin: The Competition and Consumer Protection Commission (CCPC) has issued a recall of 10,200 baby soothers over safety concerns. The affected product, 123 Baby Essentials Orthodontic Style Soothers (2-pack), poses a choking risk as it may break into small parts that infants and young children could swallow. The soothers are available in blue, pink, and white and have been sold through multiple retailers across Ireland, including:

- Guineys
- Tommy Joyce’s Superstores
- CandK Star
- Tdho Retail
- Cappagh Pharmacy
- Regional Foods
- Delgany Pharmacy
- Corduff Pharmacy Limited
- PMG Stores
- Snk Star
Consumer Advisory
If you own one of these soothers, stop using it immediately and keep it out of reach of children.
Gráinne Griffin, CCPC Director of Communications, emphasised the seriousness of the recall:
“There are approximately 10,200 affected soothers in Ireland that could break into small pieces, posing a severe choking hazard. This could result in serious harm or even fatal consequences for babies or young children. Consumers should cease use immediately.”
Consumers unsure whether they own the recalled product are advised to:
✔ Check the trade name, product code, and batch number on the packaging.
✔ Compare the soother to the images available on CCPC’s website or social media channels.
✔ Dispose of the product safely or return it to the store where it was purchased.
