Legendary Singer Asha Bhosle Passes Away at 92

Asha Bhosle, one of the most iconic voices in Indian music, has passed away at the age of 92 following cardiac and respiratory complications in Mumbai.

A towering figure in Hindi cinema, Bhosle’s illustrious career spanned decades, during which she recorded thousands of songs across genres. Her legacy stood alongside that of her sister, Lata Mangeshkar, as one of the most influential vocalists in Indian music history.

Beginning her career at a young age, she rose to prominence in the 1950s and went on to become a versatile performer, excelling in film songs, cabaret numbers and ghazals, notably in Umrao Jaan. A multiple award winner, she received seven Filmfare Awards and two National Film Awards during her distinguished career.
