Dublin City Council Weighs Removal of Palestinian Flag from O’Connell Street Spire

Dublin: Dublin City Council is assessing options to remove a Palestinian flag that has remained atop the Spire of Dublin for the past seven months.

The flag, which was first noticed in September, is believed to have been placed by unidentified individuals. No group or person has claimed responsibility, and the circumstances surrounding how it was installed remain unclear.

Council officials are now considering several methods for its removal, including the use of a 300-tonne crane or an elevated platform. Any operation is likely to be carried out at night to minimise disruption to traffic and the busy city centre.

One proposed approach involves accessing the structure via a high platform and then using ropes to reach and safely detach the flag.
