Sydney: Cricket legend Donald Bradman’s baggy green sold for $ 450,000 (Indian Rupees 2,51,31,198.12). This was the cap which Bradman wore in his debut match.
The legendary cap was bought by Australian businessman Peter Friedman. The auction did not last long as no one was available to buy for the amount announced by the auction committee last week.
This is the second largest amount for cricket player’s property. Spin wizard Shane Warne’s Test cap sold for $ 1,007,500 earlier this year.
The bidders had expected more than A $ 1 million. The cap, worn by Bradman on the 1948 tour of England, sold for $ 425,000 in 2003.
Bradman played in 52 Tests for Australia, scoring 6996 runs at an average of 99.94, including 29 centuries.
