“Dublin and Cork Shine in Condé Nast Traveller’s Friendliness Rankings”

Dublin and Cork, Ireland, have emerged as standout performers in the Condé Nast Traveller Readers’ Choice Awards, despite recent negative publicity. Ireland outperformed several European countries, including Finland, Spain, Croatia, and Slovenia.

Dublin claimed the impressive third position in the European friendliness competition, boasting a score of 95.37. Furthermore, it secured the fourth spot on the global stage. The magazine described Dublin as a city “at ease with revelry,” celebrating its lively nightlife, rich cultural heritage, and warm encounters that leave strangers-turned-friends along the way.

Although Dublin faced challenges, including high-profile attacks on tourists, its resilience and welcoming spirit prevailed in the rankings. The city of Cork, however, outshone Dublin in the European friendliness table, securing the second position with a remarkable score of 97. Condé Nast Traveller praised Cork’s vibrant personality, thriving culinary scene, diverse cultural offerings, and iconic food market.

Siena, Italy, clinched the title of the friendliest city in Europe, with other notable cities like Helsinki, Belgrade, Málaga, San Sebastián, Dubrovnik, Bucharest, and Ljubljana also making the top ten.

Dublin was further impressed by being named the fifth-best city in Europe overall, maintaining its status as a top destination among travelers. Millions of tourists visit the Irish capital each year, and it continues to be a favoured choice for readers, according to the publication.
