Electricity Prices Jump in November as Food and Construction Costs Rise

Dublin: Electricity prices rose sharply by 21.9% in November, according to the latest figures from the Central Statistics Office (CSO). Despite the monthly increase, prices remain nearly 70% below their peak in August 2022 and are 16% lower than in November 2024.

Food prices increased by 3% year-on-year, though they dipped slightly by 0.1% compared with October. Dairy products recorded the largest annual rise at 11.1%, followed by meat (6.7%) and fish (5.1%). In contrast, oils and fats fell by 16.2% over the year.

Chemical products saw a significant annual increase of 30.8%, while beverage prices declined by 5.1%. Meanwhile, wholesale prices for construction materials edged up by 0.1% in November and were 1% higher than a year earlier.
