Historic moment for Cristiano Ronaldo; scored 100 international goals

The football world witnessed one of the unique moments in the career Cristiano Ronaldo. The Portuguese super star completed 100 goals in his international career.

The Portuguese star found the back of the net with a beautiful free-kick just before half-time against Sweden in the UEFA Nations League. Ronaldo has bagged these 100 goals from 165 matches.

Even though this is the second time in world football, in the European football context, this is the first time in European football that a player has scored 100 goals for a country. Cristiano Ronaldo is second only to Iran legend Ali Daei.

Ali Daei has scored 109 goals for Iran. In Europe, Hungary legend Puskas is behind Cristiano with 84 goals.  

Portugal was able to carryforward the confidence which they gained by defeating Croatia and exhibited good match against Sweden.

Throughout the match Portugal fired 21 shots on to Sweden’s goalpost. Sweden were reduced to 10 men in the 44th minute when one amongst them was sent off for a second yellow card.

Shortly afterwards, Cristiano Ronaldo gave Portugal the lead with a free kick. Cristiano Ronaldo scored his second goal in the 72nd minute.

Cristiano found his 101st goal with a right-footed shot from outside the box. Portugal are currently top of the league, having won both of their Group C matches.
