DUBLIN: Mr. Sandeep Kumar, Indian Ambassador to Ireland, was the special guest on the latest episode of ‘In Conversation This Week with Diplomat Ireland’. Ambassador Kumar and host Miceál O’Hurley discussed a range of topics, including the COVID-19 pandemic and India’s non-permanent seat on the United Nations Security Council (UNSC).
Mr. Kumar addressed the problems of how COVID-19 impacted the delivery of consular services, saying that the Indian Embassy in Dublin continued to operate throughout the pandemic, often operating at night and on weekends to meet the needs of the Indian community in Ireland.
The Ambassador also discussed mobilizing community support and offering consular services to address the needs of Indian community in Ireland.
The impact of second wave of COVID-19 pandemic on India, vaccination roll out in India, India’s economic performance during the pandemic and its impact on the global economy were also covered.
Ambassador Kumar also spoke about the recent cyclone that hit India. Cyclone Tauktae is regarded as one of the largest cyclones of its kind ever recorded in Indian history. He also mentioned that India has mobilized military and civilian support systems to help the victims of the cyclone.
