Ireland Sees Temperature Surge This Week, Northern Regions Set to Be Warmest, Says Met Éireann
Dublin: Ireland is experiencing a significant rise in temperatures this week, with the northern regions expected to be the warmest. According to Met Éireann, temperatures across the country are forecast to range from 19°C to 25°C, accompanied by moderate southwesterly winds.
On Thursday, temperatures peaked at 27°C in Mount Dillon, Roscommon, while several weather stations in Carlow, Galway, Westmeath, Dublin, and Clare recorded temperatures exceeding 26°C, surpassing the 25.9°C recorded in Athens on April 30.
The Met Office reports that Friday could see temperatures climbing to 29°C, making it one of the hottest days of the year. Today is expected to be very warm and mostly sunny, although localised showers, mist, and fog may occur in some areas during the morning. These conditions are expected to clear as temperatures rise throughout the day. Southeasterly winds are also forecast.
Saturday will continue to be sunny and warm, though showers may develop, with a risk of heavy rain and isolated thunderstorms in certain areas.
On Sunday, stronger winds are expected, with temperatures ranging from 15°C to 20°C, warmest in the eastern part of the country. The day may also bring occasional rain and gusty westerly winds.
Looking ahead to next week, Met Éireann anticipates a mix of sunshine and showers, with temperatures remaining above seasonal averages. Rainfall is expected to be higher than normal, particularly in southern and northern regions, and the potential for thunderstorms persists.
