Ireland’s Sunny Spell Ends as Met Éireann Warns of Widespread Rain and Cooler Temperatures
Dublin: Ireland’s recent stretch of warm, sunny weather is set to end abruptly as Met Éireann forecasts a return to unsettled, wet conditions. A large weather front is expected to bring widespread rain and cooler temperatures across all 32 counties starting this Sunday, with the most intense conditions arriving Monday.
After a week of sunshine and highs above 20°C, the national forecaster predicts a significant change, with scattered showers, hail, and even isolated thunderstorms likely. Temperatures will drop to between 9°C and 12°C, accompanied by gusty southwest to west winds, especially along western and southern coasts.
By Monday afternoon, weather models show persistent rain sweeping across the country, marking a sharp contrast to the recent mini-heatwave. The unsettled pattern is expected to continue into Tuesday and Wednesday, bringing further heavy showers, potential thundery bursts, and possible overnight frost in some areas.
Blustery conditions are forecast to develop later in the week as low pressure dominates, potentially impacting the Easter bank holiday weekend.
