There are several discrepancies in his statement regarding the hours after the murder. The Gardai is checking his phone records.

He came to Seema Banu’s house wearing a hijab to avoid being identified. (Gardai has not yet publicly revealed whether the culprit was a family member with close ties to the victims). He was called in for questioning and was later arrested by detectives.

Seema Banu (37), her daughter Asfira Riza (11), and son Faizan Syed (6), were found dead on October 28 at their home in Ballinteer, south Dublin. The bodies were found in a search by gardai after neighbours reported the death days later. The neighbour said he hadn’t seen the family outside for several days.

Seema’s family in India has been informed about his arrest. The family had footage of Seema being attacked earlier. The family had earlier given it to Gardai. The Garda sources said they were trying to gather as much evidence as they could in the case.

Seema Banu’s family and relatives are relieved to have caught the brutal killer, even though the separation of close ones is unbearable.
