“Manish Malhotra Unveils Air India’s New Pilot and Cabin Crew Uniforms, Showcasing Three Quintessential Indian Colours”

Renowned designer Manish Malhotra unveiled chic uniforms for Air India’s cabin crew and pilots on December 12.

The female cabin crew will showcase modern ombre sarees with a touch of elegance, while male counterparts don bandhgalas. Pilots will sport classic black suits with a Vista-inspired print. The phased introduction of these stylish uniforms will coincide with the launch of Air India’s first Airbus A350.

The design offers flexibility, allowing female cabin crew to choose between sarees and comfortable pants, reflecting an East-meets-West aesthetic. The senior crew will wear aubergine-to-burgundy sarees, while juniors will flaunt red-to-purple combinations.

Malhotra, aiming to capture India’s cultural essence with a modern twist, also designed matching footwear, pearl earrings, and sling bags. The uniforms for ground staff, engineers, and security personnel are yet to be revealed. Campbell Wilson, Air India’s CEO, praises the innovative ensemble, anticipating a new chapter in the airline’s history.
