MI beats KXIP by 48 runs and becomes Table Topers

Mumbai Indian beats the Kings XI Punjab by 48 runs in the 13th match of Dream 11 IPL, 2020.

After winning the toss, Punjab skipper decided to field first and that made the Mumbai openers to pad first.

It was a decent first over for the Punjab as their go through bowler Sheldon Cottrell gave the breakthrough by uprooting Quinton de Kock’s wicket. The Windies bowler gave away just 20 runs and took one wicket in his entire four overs.

The MI dugout and fans were extremely happy to see their captain, Rohit Sharma finding his rhythm back. He scored 70 runs of 45 balls with eight fours and three sixes.

Mumbai managed to host a total of 191 runs with the lost of four wickets. Other than Rohit, Suryakumar Yadav (10), Ishan Kishan (28), Kiron Pollard (47) and Hardik Pandya (30) scored runs for MI.

Expect Cottrell, all other Punjab bowlers where taken to their maximum by the MI batsmen.

By batting second KXIP failed to cross the winning score and they fell short of 48 runs. This huge margin win had pushed MI to the top of the points table.

Nicholas Pooran was the top scorer for Punjab, he scored 44 of 27 ball with three fours and two sixes. Captain Lokesh Rahul (17), Mayank Agarwal (25), Krishnappa Gowtham (22) and Maxwell (11) where the other players who saw two digit across their name.

All five MI bowlers were able to fetch at least a wicket from Abu Dhabi stadium.

Jasprit Bumrah, Rahul Chahar and James Pattinson took two wickets each, whereas Trent Boult and Kurnal Pandya picked up one wicket each.

Rohit became the third batsman to score 5000 runs in IPL. Other that the hitman, the RCB captain Virat Kohli and CSK batsman Suresh Raina where the other two players to reach this landmark.
