“Revised Junior Cycle Exam Results Set for Announcement Today”

Dublin: Today marks the eagerly anticipated announcement of the results for the 70,727 students who participated in the junior cycle exams this year. Notably, this reflects a significant 5% increase in the number of students compared to the previous year, 2022.

This noteworthy uptick in student participation signifies a unique milestone, as it is the first time in recent memory that the number of candidates taking the Junior Cycle exam, or its predecessor, the Junior Cert, has seen such growth.

The much-anticipated results will be distributed to the deserving students through their respective educational institutions.

It is crucial to underline that this year’s examinees have had the privilege of undertaking the examinations in accordance with a completely revamped junior cycle syllabus. A departure from the previous norm, as until 2019, only the newly revised subjects of English, Science, and Business Studies were subject to examination.

In total, a remarkable 629,189 grades are set to be bestowed upon students this year across 21 diverse individual subjects.

Each student will receive a Junior Cycle Profile of Achievement (JCPA) award, a testament to their collective performance encompassing their examination results, outcomes from classroom-based assessments, achievements in short courses, and their overall academic progress within the school setting.
