Cristiano Ronaldo had a number of huge chances in the first half but ultimately put his club ahead with a penalty shootout goal shortly after the hour mark.
Cristiano Ronaldo of Portugal shrugged off his acrimonious split with Manchester United to set yet another milestone, becoming the first player to score in five World Cups with a penalty in Portugal’s 3-2 triumph over Ghana on Thursday.
Cristiano Ronaldo scored from the penalty spot five minutes after the hour mark, before Andre Ayew equalised eight minutes later. Portugal took a two-goal lead thanks to strikes from Joao Felix and substitute Rafael Leao. Substitute Osman Bukari equalised in the 89th minute, but it was not enough to deny Portugal a point, as the game concluded 3-2.
