St. Patrick’s Day celebrations spread throughout Ireland, the Indian community sends a message of unity……

Dublin: The St. Patrick’s Day celebration spread throughout Ireland with a single message of Irish ownership and national unity. Young and old people lined up for the St. Patrick’s Day parade in villages, joining tens of thousands who turned the capital city into a sea of green.

Not only were celebrations held on the Irish island but also around the world, including in India.

With 4,200 performers, including marching bands, aerial acrobats, and vibrant costumes, Dublin 2023 was the best yet.  The parade rattled the historic streets of Dublin as it marched past half a million people who lined the city streets for a grand spectacle.

Ireland’s Indian immigrant community participated enthusiastically, along with tens of thousands who imitated St. Patrick in leprechaun hats, painted green beards, and emerald scarves. The main guest was American actor Patrick Duffy.

The Dún Laoghaire Parade, which was attended by thousands, was held at Stepaside. The main attraction of the parade was the marching Indian community, accompanied by drums.

Waterford
The presence of important Indian community organisations was noticeable at the St. Patrick’s Day events in Waterford, where thousands gathered. The group that marched with a balloon arch that said India received a lot of applause. India stood out in the Waterford parade thanks to the tiger dance and traditional ornaments.

Showers in the western parts of the country dampened the splendour of the celebrations but did not dampen the excitement.

Tipperary
The Indian community proudly marched in the St. Patrick’s Day parades in Clonmel, Tipperary, Thurles, and Cashel.

Kerry, Cork, Galway, and Limerick. St. Patrick’s Day parades were held in almost all the Irish cities, like Blanchardstown, Mullingar, Sligo, Portlaoise, etc. All of these locations had a strong Indian presence and the tricolour. What distinguished St. Patrick’s Day this year across the country was the expression of the message of unity that we are one.
