Status Yellow rain and thunderstorm warning issued for 15 counties

DUBLIN: A Status Yellow rain and thunderstorm warning has been issued for 15 counties in Leinster and Ulster for tomorrow (Saturday).

Met Éireann’s warning will be in effect from 12pm to 8pm tomorrow in all of Leinster, as well as Cavan, Monaghan, and Donegal.

Spot flooding is expected as a result of scattered heavy rains with localised thundery downpours, the national meteorological service said.

Sunday will also see scattered showers. However, Met Éireann predicts that Sunday’s downpour will be much lighter than tomorrow’s, with mostly dry conditions throughout the day.

The forecaster said the weather will become mostly dry next week. It may feel warmer as high pressure builds near Ireland. Temperatures are expected to reach up to 23 degrees Celsius on Monday and Tuesday.

Meanwhile, the UK Met Office has issued a Status Yellow warning to six counties in Northern Ireland tomorrow. The alert is in effect from 12 pm until 10 pm tomorrow.

Heavy rain and thunderstorms are expected in these counties, causing potential transport disruption and floods.
