SuperValu Cuts Prices on 500 Everyday Essentials as Cost Pressures Rise

Dublin: SuperValu has announced major price reductions on more than 500 everyday products as part of its commitment to easing the burden of rising living costs for households. The retailer says the initiative will save the average shopper up to €20 per week, with reductions available both in-store and online.

The cuts form part of SuperValu’s ‘Still Super, Now Better Value’ campaign and are in addition to the 2,500 weekly offers already available.

SuperValu confirmed that the reductions apply to staple items most frequently purchased by customers, including fresh fruit and vegetables, milk, meat, tea, coffee, soups, orange juice, Parma ham, bin bags, biscuits, pet food and firelighters.

Managing Director Luke Hanlon said household budgets remain under sustained pressure and the retailer’s goal is to make weekly shopping more affordable while maintaining quality and product choice. “We want shoppers to feel they can buy more for their money,” he said.

Tesco Faces Customer Complaints Over Higher Prices

In a related development, Tesco has come under criticism from shoppers who claim the supermarket is charging 10–15 per cent more for essential items compared with competitors.

While the retailer highlights savings through its Clubcard loyalty scheme, many customers without Clubcards report paying higher prices. Supermarkets Aldi, Lidl and SuperValu are now offering lower prices on a broad basket of everyday goods.
