Two Elderly Brothers Die in Tragic House Fire in Co. Sligo

Dublin: Two elderly brothers have died following a devastating house fire in Rathlee, near Easkey, County Sligo.

Pa and Séamus Caffey, both aged 80, were found deceased at their family home after a fire broke out during the night. Gardaí and emergency services were alerted to the incident at approximately 11am. Both men were pronounced dead at the scene. No other injuries were reported.

The bodies of the two brothers have been removed to Sligo University Hospital, where post-mortem examinations will be carried out. Gardaí have confirmed that further actions will depend on the results of those examinations.

The tragedy has deeply affected the local community. Nephews, nieces, relatives and neighbours who gathered at the scene were visibly shocked and distressed. Residents described the brothers as kind and gentle men, saying the loss has left the area heartbroken.
