Lionel Messi wowed once more as Argentina stormed into their sixth World Cup final by thrashing Croatia 3-0 in the first FIFA World Cup semi-final. Messi scored one and assisted one, while Julian Alvarez scored twice for the two-time winners at Lusail Stadium.
Five minutes later, Alvarez extended the advantage with a spectacular solo goal in the 39th minute. The game was over for Croatia when Alvarez made it 3-0 for Argentina in the 69th minute after Messi showed his old self to generate the opportunity.
