Dublin: In a significant crackdown on financial crimes, 264 individuals were arrested in Ireland as part of a joint operation conducted by the Gardaí and Interpol. The operation targeted the prevention of financial crimes and led to numerous arrests and seizures.
Accounts Frozen and Assets Seized
The arrested individuals were suspected of opening accounts under fake names, prompting authorities to freeze these accounts and register cases against them. The operation resulted in the seizure of:
€81,133 and $260,953 worth of cryptocurrency
Two cars
Goods valued at €49,000, believed to have been purchased with illicit funds
11 mobile phones
The Interpol-led operation spanned 21 countries, with significant participation from various regions in Ireland, including Dublin, Kerry, Laois, Tipperary, and Galway. A total of 37 raids were conducted as part of this coordinated effort.
