Dublin Sets World Record for Recruitment, Leads Global Hiring Rates…

'Jobs Expo Dublin, Saturday, 19th October, 2024'

Dublin: Dublin has emerged as a global leader in recruitment, according to a LinkedIn study of the world’s 50 largest metropolitan areas. Between January and June this year, Dublin topped LinkedIn’s hiring rates, outperforming major cities such as New York, Paris, and Rome. The report revealed that Dublin was the only metro area in the Eurozone to experience a significant surge in recruitment during this period, solidifying its reputation as a recruitment powerhouse. Dublin is expected to rank sixth globally in recruitment by 2024.

Ireland is also leading the way in hybrid and remote work. Although hybrid work opportunities have declined by 12.5% and remote roles by 14.8% in the past year, Dublin remains at the forefront of flexible working arrangements, according to the LinkedIn report.

Demand for Technical Graduates Soars as Employers Target AI Talent

Employers in Dublin are increasingly seeking out technical graduates, especially in fields related to artificial intelligence (AI), automation, and blockchain. A recent study by the Economic and Social Research Institute (ESRI) found that Irish universities are successfully producing the specialists required for these emerging sectors. The study, funded by the Department of Further and Higher Education, Research, Innovation, and Science, drew on various data sources, including online vacancy tracking and feedback from employer workshops.

The demand for tech talent is expected to rise further, particularly with the introduction of the European Artificial Intelligence Act, which will shape the labour market in the coming years. The ESRI report also suggested that employers should develop policies to manage AI-related changes at multiple levels within their organisations. Minister for Further and Higher Education, Patrick O’Donovan, praised the report, stating that it would guide future policy development in these critical areas.
