Amazon to create 500 jobs at first Irish warehouse in Dublin

DUBLIN: Amazon is set to create 500 new jobs at its first Irish warehouse, which recently opened in Dublin. Recruitment for the site is currently underway and it’s understood that wages are set to start at €13.50 an hour.

“We are focusing on welcoming our new team and preparing the site in readiness to start delivering to our customers across Ireland,” a spokesperson for Amazon said.

The 630,000-square-foot fulfilment centre is located at Baldonnell Business Park. The centre will store millions of items that will be picked, packed, and shipped to customers across Ireland and Europe. Once the center is fully operational, Amazon customers will be able to get delivery in less time, the company said.

Earlier in 2020, Amazon announced that it will employ 5,000 people in Ireland by 2022. The company’s first delivery station opened in Rathcoole, Dublin in October 2020, with 20 permanent jobs at the site. Amazon opened its first office in Ireland in 2004.

Last year, Amazon announced it would open a second delivery station at the Northwest Logistics Park in Ballycoolin, creating more than 20 jobs.
