Britain has recently gone through volatile times, with three prime ministers in a matter of months. Rishi Sunak, the latest inhabitant of 10 Downing Street, arrived at the Prime Minister’s official residence, but it was a cat that stole the show. And it wasn’t just any cat, but Larry, a tabby cat who is the Cabinet Office’s chief mouser.
The 15-year-old cat has already outlasted four prime ministers and is currently residing in 10 Downing Street with the fifth. A video released on Twitter shows Larry the cat going down the path and sitting down as Sunak enters the mansion for the first time as Prime Minister.
Sunak, on the other hand, ignored the cat’s existence and continued walking without looking at him. “How did Larry know Rishi Sunak was coming?!” reads the video’s caption.
Larry the Cat has more than 7.97 million followers on Twitter. Rishi Sunak was appointed Prime Minister of the United Kingdom when King Charles III requested him to form a cabinet at Buckingham Palace. He took over for Liz Truss, who stepped down after only 45 days in office.
