Terrorist threat; The Emirates flight that went to New Jersey landed back in Athens

Dublin: An Emirates flight headed for New Jersey with around 250 people on board has landed in Athens shortly after take off due to terror threats. According to a police spokesman, two F-16 Greek Air Force fighter jets assisted in bringing the plane back to Athens’ Eleftherios Venizelos International Airport. It is reported that this action is related to a suspicious person travelling by plane.

The plane was denied permission to land in Italy and France.

Flight EK 210 landed 45 minutes after takeoff, at 10 p.m. The search for the plane, according to the spokesman, is ongoing. On board, there were 228 passengers and 18 crew members. According to the Greek Broadcasting Channel, US authorities had warned that there was a suspicious person on board.

Earlier, another Dubai-bound Emirates flight was also blocked from departing Eleftherios Venizelos. Security personnel searched all of the passengers but found nothing suspicious. The flight then took off five hours late.
