The trial continues in the case against the nurse who killed the infants

London: The trial in the case of attempting to poison a baby will resume today in a UK court. Lucy Letby, the accused nurse, tried to kill the baby boy by injecting him with insulin. One of the twins died in the incident. The latter was in the hospital, recovering.

The case alleges that she tried to kill the baby by giving insulin at midnight on August 4, 2015. The baby’s heart rate allegedly increased and blood glucose levels dangerously dropped after receiving a new intravenous feed containing nutrients and sugar.

The Hereford nurse is accused of murdering seven babies and attempting to kill 10 others.

On Wednesday, the trial of three nurses who assisted the defendant in the care of premature twins at the Countess of Chester Hospital’s neonatal unit began. Australian nurses Shelly Tomlins, Sophie Ellis, and Belinda Williamson recorded their statements via video link. They were also on duty in the days following the baby’s birth in August 2015. However, the other three nurses stated that they did not give insulin to the babies.
