The UK is about to witness the biggest nurses’ strike in history

London: The largest nurses’ strike in history is about to take place in the United Kingdom. Hundreds of thousands of NHS nurses in England, Wales, and Northern Ireland will go on strike in December.

The strike by nurses is expected to cause a major crisis in Britain’s health sector, with seven million patients on the waiting list for emergency treatment in England.

The government’s refusal to acknowledge legitimate demands paved the way for this historic strike. It was expected that the government’s approach would change when the new prime minister took office. But Prime Minister Rishi Sunak’s inverted stance made the strike inevitable. Except for emergency services, there will be no regular services on strike days.
A&E and intensive care will also provide emergency cancer services, urgent tests and scans, and care for vulnerable patients.

Following a salary dispute with the government, the Royal College of Nursing (RCN) announced a strike on December 15 and 20. The RCN said there was no other option if the ministers did not take the initiative to negotiate a settlement. At the same time, the government believes that the demand for a 19% salary increase cannot be met. CN General Secretary Pat Cullen said. Cullen accused the minister of making the decision to have enough low-wage nurses, unsafe staffing levels, and poor patient care.
