Pope Francis will leave the hospital today

Rome: Pope Francis, who was admitted to Gemelli Hospital in Rome, will be discharged today (Saturday).

The 86-year-old Pope’s health is improving after taking antibiotics for viral bronchitis. According to Vatican spokesman Matteo Bruni, the Pope will leave the hospital on Saturday and attend the Palm Sunday Mass in St. Peter’s Square tomorrow.

On Friday, the Pope dined with Gendarmerie doctors, nurses, and assistants. The Pope also attended a hospital baptism ceremony. The spokesman clarified that he is expected to return to his Santa Marta home in the Vatican today.

The spokesperson added that Pope Francis is also expected to be present at the Ascension Sunday celebration in St. Peter’s Square.
