Sunil Chhetri scores hat-trick as India win 4-0 against Pakistan
India vs. Pakistan SAFF Championship 2023: The Indian football team got off to the best possible start in the SAFF Championship, smashing Pakistan 4-0, courtesy of three goals from brilliant Sunil Chhetri. Two of Chhetri’s goals were from penalties, and he took advantage of an error by Pakistan goalie Saqib Hanif to score his first of the night.
Udanta Singh scored India’s fourth goal on a night they took over their arch-rivals, who had faced numerous difficulties even getting to Bengaluru for the tournament. After not receiving their visas in time, many members of the Pakistan team arrived just hours before kickoff.
This was India and Pakistan’s first football encounter since September 2018. Following the victory over Pakistan, India will face Nepal on June 24 and Kuwait on June 27. Pakistan will play Kuwait on June 24 and Nepal on June 27.
