“Motorola’s New R&D Centre in Cork to Create 200 Jobs”

Cork: Motorola Solutions, a prominent US company, is establishing a new research and development centre in Cork, which is expected to employ over 200 people in its initial phase.

Focus on Software for LMR Products

The R&D centre will focus on designing software for the company’s Land Mobile Radio (LMR) products. Motorola Solutions has begun accepting applications for highly skilled positions.

Located in Cork city centre, the new facility will support Ireland’s National Digital Radio Service, a secure communications network for emergency services. The LMR products are designed for use in various critical situations, and government and organisations utilise these networks for secure communication.

Significant Investment and Global Presence

Motorola Solutions has invested over $12 billion in research and development, supporting more than 13,000 LMR networks globally that utilise broadband and advanced data-based technology.

Greg Brown, chairman and CEO of Motorola Solutions, described the Cork R&D centre as a symbol of the company’s forward-looking vision. He highlighted that the new centre is part of the company’s global expansion, which now includes over 20,000 employees.

Strengthening US-Ireland Relations

US Ambassador to Ireland Claire Cronin praised Motorola Solutions as a leader in public safety with a long-standing commitment to the sector. She emphasised that the new centre will further strengthen trade and investment ties between the US and Ireland, acknowledging Ireland’s high level of expertise.

Enterprise Minister Peter Burke noted that the new centre aligns with the government’s goal of promoting regional investment. IDA Ireland CEO Michael Lohan added that the centre reflects global confidence in Ireland’s technology sector.
