Aircoach Implements Up to 50% Fare Hikes on Several Routes; Dublin Airport to City Centre Single Fare Now €12

Dublin: Airport bus operator Aircoach has recently implemented significant fare increases on several routes, with some prices rising by up to 50%. A single fare from the airport to Dublin city centre has increased to €12 from €8 for passengers boarding without a pre-booked ticket. Online fares have also risen substantially, from €7 to €10 for a single ticket and from €9 to €15 for a return.

These fare hikes come after a challenging period for the UK-owned operator, which faced substantial service cancellations due to driver shortages. Last month, the company attributed the cancellations—affecting up to a third of services on some days—to “operational issues.”

Trade union Siptu reported that drivers were “working under protest” due to the company’s enforced duties. Drivers later accepted a 4.8% pay increase over nine months and new rosters to address previous issues.

In response to enquiries, Aircoach stated that the fare adjustments are part of a strategy to balance accessibility and service quality. The company also apologised for the disruptions caused by the industry-wide driver shortage and expressed optimism that their ongoing recruitment efforts will reduce further cancellations. They thanked customers for their patience as they work to restore full service reliability.
