Non-EU Multinationals Lead in Average Earnings for 2023, CSO Reports

Dublin: According to the Central Statistics Office (CSO), workers in non-EU multinational companies had the highest median weekly earnings in 2023, averaging €906.74. This was followed by employees in EU-owned multinationals (€789.07) and Irish-owned enterprises (€654.41), which recorded the lowest median earnings.

Indian nationals earned the highest median weekly wages in both Irish-owned (€792.59) and foreign-owned enterprises (€1,096.05), while Ukrainian, Brazilian, and Lithuanian nationals had the lowest earnings in Irish-owned businesses.

Jobs in Irish-owned enterprises accounted for nearly 75% of all employment in 2023, with non-EU multinationals making up around 20%. Despite higher growth in female earnings, men consistently earned more across all enterprise categories.

Employment in Irish-owned enterprises grew by 2.9% annually to November 2024, compared to a 0.5% rise in foreign-owned firms. Irish nationals represented 76.6% of the workforce in Irish-owned companies and 65.5% in foreign-owned enterprises.
