Irish Billionaire Brothers with Indian Roots Join Forbes Rich List

Dublin: Irish brothers Firoz Mistry (28) and Sahan Mistry (26) have been named among the world’s youngest billionaires on the latest Forbes list, each with an estimated net worth of €3.4 billion.

Although both brothers live in Mumbai, they hold Irish citizenship and share strong ties to both Ireland and India through their grandfather, the late Pallonji Mistry. Like their grandfather, the brothers maintain a low public profile and have yet to give a media interview. Limited details about their personal lives have emerged, though it is reported that Firoz studied at the University of Warwick in the UK, while Sahan attended Yale University in the US.

Their grandfather, Pallonji Mistry, became an Irish citizen in 2003 after marrying Perrin Dubash in Dublin in 1939. All four of their children, including Firoz and Sahan’s father, Cyrus Mistry, hold Irish passports. Cyrus, who died in a car accident, passed on significant business interests to his sons.

Through their inheritance, the Mistry brothers now hold a 4.6% stake in Tata Sons, valued at €3.4 billion, along with a 25% stake in the Shapoorji Pallonji Group. According to Forbes, they recently secured $3.3 billion in credit from five private funds to strengthen the group’s operations.

Pallonji Mistry, who died in 2022 with a fortune of €14.2 billion, was the largest private shareholder in Tata Sons. Founded in 1868, the Mumbai-headquartered Tata Group operates more than 30 companies across industries such as automobiles, hospitality, chemicals, and steel, with a presence in over 100 countries.

The Shapoorji Pallonji Group, a major construction and engineering conglomerate, was inherited by Pallonji’s elder son, Shapoor Mistry, who continues to be listed among Ireland’s richest individuals.
