Yellow Weather Alert Issued for 14 Counties as Heavy Rain Forecast
Dublin: The Met Office has issued yellow weather warnings for 14 counties across Ireland on Friday and Saturday, with forecasters warning of heavy rainfall, localised flooding, and travel disruption, particularly in the eastern and southeastern regions.
From 2 p.m. Friday until midnight, counties Carlow, Kilkenny, Wexford, Wicklow, and Waterford are expected to see the heaviest downpours. Rainfall could persist nationwide for up to 34 hours, raising the risk of difficult driving conditions and possible road closures.
A further yellow alert has been issued for Saturday, covering Carlow, Dublin, Kildare, Kilkenny, Laois, Louth, Meath, Offaly, Westmeath, Wexford, Wicklow, Cork, Tipperary, and Waterford. This warning will remain in effect from midnight Saturday through midnight Sunday.
In Northern Ireland, the UK Met Office has also placed Antrim and Down under a yellow rain warning from midnight Saturday until 3 a.m. Sunday, cautioning of potential minor flooding and transport disruption.
