Met Éireann Issues Warning of Unstable Weather Linked to Cyclone Humberto
Dublin: Met Éireann has cautioned that Ireland may experience more severe and unsettled weather conditions as the effects of Cyclone Humberto ripple across the Atlantic. While the cyclone itself is not forecast to make direct landfall in Ireland, its indirect impact could bring spells of heavy rainfall and strong winds later in the week.
Humberto, the latest storm of the Atlantic hurricane season, is currently tracking across the ocean and is expected to strengthen significantly, with forecasters suggesting it could reach Category 5 status when it makes landfall between Bermuda and the United States.
Although uncertainty remains about the storm’s trajectory, Met Éireann has warned that conditions will likely deteriorate by Friday, with heavy rain expected in the east, followed by sunny spells and scattered showers. Weekend conditions are forecast to be more unsettled, with potential for further deterioration. Daytime highs are projected to range between 15°C and 17°C.
Today’s Outlook
Fog and mist are expected to clear on Monday morning, giving way to largely dry conditions across much of the country. However, light showers are likely in parts of the west and northwest by late evening. Elsewhere, skies will remain cloudy, but brighter spells with sunshine are forecast for the east, south, and central regions. Temperatures will reach 14°C to 17°C.
Met Éireann says this mixed pattern of cloudy spells, sunshine, and occasional showers will continue through the week, with Humberto’s proximity influencing Ireland’s weather towards the weekend.
