Early Arrival of Snow and Ice Confirmed for Ireland..

Dublin: Weather forecasters have confirmed that snow and ice are expected to arrive earlier than usual in Ireland this year. Typically, significant snowfall occurs in January and February, but forecasts now indicate an early onset. According to WX Charts, the first snowfall may occur as early as November 19th and 20th.

Forecast models show considerable regional variation. While some parts of the country may see no snow at all, WX Charts predict accumulations of 1–9 cm in certain areas, with most regions likely to receive 1–3 cm. Winter rainfall is also expected across much of Ireland. Snow is most likely in parts of the north, west, and midlands, though the Met Office notes that conditions remain changeable.

The Met Office also reports that variable weather patterns and lower-than-average temperatures are expected toward the end of the year. Seasonal modelling from the C3S system for the September–October–November period indicates above-average temperatures overall, with rainfall remaining near normal. However, temperatures may drop to 0.5–1.0°C below average over the next two months.

Forecasters expect autumn to be generally unsettled, with low-pressure systems bringing a mix of wetter and drier spells. Air temperatures are anticipated to remain below the seasonal average. In response to the early cold conditions, local authorities — including Dublin City Council — have already activated de-icing operations on major routes.

Weekend Forecast

Sunday is expected to be mostly cloudy, with occasional patches of rain and drizzle. Long dry spells are likely, accompanied by sunny intervals. Daytime temperatures will range from 12°C to 14°C, with light to moderate southwesterly winds.

Sunday night will be largely dry and calm, with some fog and mist developing in eastern areas. Overnight temperatures will fall to 3°C–6°C, according to the Met Office.
