Woman Charged Over Threatening Messages to Tánaiste Simon Harris

Dublin: A 40 year old Dublin woman has appeared before Dublin District Court accused of sending threatening communications to Tánaiste Simon Harris and his family.

Sandra Barry, of Tor an Rí, Balgaddy, Lucan, was charged following an SDU investigation. Gardaí allege she sent a series of implied threats from her home on 30 August, identified through social media activity.

The Director of Public Prosecutions directed that the case be heard in the District Court. Judge Michèle Finan accepted jurisdiction and granted Barry cashless bail with conditions, including weekly Garda station sign-ins and a ban on any direct or indirect contact with Mr Harris.

Barry, who made no reply when charged, will appear again on 18 December. Legal aid was granted after the court heard she works on minimum wage as an equine hand.
