NMBI extended validity of decision letters issued on or after March 2019; Order will benefit Indian nurses

DUBLIN: The validity of the decision letters issued by the NMBI to applicants who have been trained in nursing outside Ireland has been extended until further notice. The action will be taken in the decision letters issued on or after March 2019.

Normally, a decision letter is valid for 12 months from the date of issue. But the decision letter has been validated for a longer period of time due to the COVID-19 Pandemic and travel restrictions. Accordingly, a one-year period will not apply to decision letters issued by the NMBI in March 2019 or thereafter.

Decision letters could not be used as many applicants were unable to reach Ireland following the COVID-19 pandemic. The validity of the decision letters of such persons was extended, the NMBI said in a press release.

Despite receiving the decision letter, hundreds of people, including Keralites, could not reach Ireland due to the COVID crisis. They will all benefit from the new order.

The NMBI said in a statement that the current order relating to Pandemic may remain in force for the entire year. However, the NMBI has the right to cancel the extension at any time.

The notice also states that the withdrawal of the order will take place only after three months prior notice has been given to the applicants.
