Northern Ireland offered special financial rewards to all health workers who served during Pandemic

BELFAST: Northern Ireland is offering a special financial reward to all the health workers who have worked tirelessly during the time of COVID-19 pandemic. The decision to pay £500 was announced by the Stormont Health Minister Robin Swann.

It will be paid to all health and social care workers, including doctors, nurses, care home workers, domiciliary care workers, administrative staff and estates teams.

A separate cash payment will be made to all students who were in clinical placement from October 1, 2020 to March 31, 2021.

Eligible for this payment are those in the nursing and midwifery, AHP, social work and physician associate pre-registration programmes commissioned from Queen’s University Belfast and the Ulster University by Stormont’s health department.

There is also a one-time award for carers. But Mr. Swann said more work is to be done on this.

The death toll from COVID-19 in NI has risen to 1,779, with 16 more people dying yesterday. The health department confirmed 527 new cases yesterday. COVID Hospitals currently has 775 patients, including 68 in the intensive care unit.
