The UK will offer thousands of young Indians the right to live and work in Britain, Rishi Sunak has confirmed as he prepares to meet the country’s Prime Minister, Narendra Modi, at the G20 summit in Bali, Indonesia.
A scheme due to start next year will offer visas to 3,000 professionals aged between 18 and 30, letting them move to the UK for up to two years.
The policy risks opening up a fresh rift with Home Secretary Suella Braverman, who has spoken out against allowing India more visas in her quest to reduce overall immigration numbers.
“Prime Ministers Narendra Modi and Rishi Sunak conversing on the first day of the G20 Summit in Bali,” PM Modi’s office and the UK office announced this in a tweet.
