Affidea expands its presence in Ireland, creating 120 new jobs in Belfast
Affidea, the medical services company, is making substantial investments to solidify its position as Ireland’s premier healthcare provider, with a focus on job creation. Already generating 60 jobs, the company plans to establish a state-of-the-art medical clinic specialising in orthopaedic care in Belfast, creating an additional 120 highly skilled positions. The facility will offer a comprehensive range of medical services, including an express care clinic, operating theatres, endoscopy services, and diagnostic imaging with MRI, CT, DEXA, x-ray, mammography, fluoroscopy, and ultrasound services, catering to up to 50,000 patients annually.
Affidea, known for its existing clinical facilities in Northern Ireland and a specialist orthopaedics centre in London, aims to deploy its successful centre of excellence model in orthopaedics. Barry Downes, CEO of Affidea Ireland, emphasised their commitment to providing high-quality healthcare for all, stating that the new investments would enhance access to modern equipment and clinical facilities for patients on both sides of the border.
Expanding its footprint, Affidea is set to open a diagnostics clinic with MRI, x-ray, and ultrasound services in Charlestown, Co. Dublin, next month. Additionally, the company has installed eight new MRI machines across various locations to augment its capacity for patient scans. Overall, Affidea’s investment is expected to create over 180 jobs in clinical and non-clinical roles, spanning radiographers, doctors, nurses, and managerial and administrative positions. With a current workforce of over 400 employees in Ireland, Affidea’s ongoing initiatives aim to significantly benefit healthcare accessibility and job opportunities across the region.
