On Tuesday, an additional €100 per kid was added to child benefit payments in an effort to assist families in dealing with the cost-of-living problem.
The initiative, which was introduced in Budget 2023, would benefit over 1.2 million children in 650,000 households.
The extra payment will be added to the €140 monthly payment for each kid.
Heather Humphreys, Minister for Social Protection, stated that she is “deeply aware of the difficulties families are currently facing in meeting their bills.” As a result, I’m glad to announce that I, together with Minister for Public Expenditure and Reform Paschal Donohoe, have cosigned the rules that will implement the €100 increase. This summer, parents who get the Back to School Clothing and Footwear Allowance will earn an extra €100 for each kid.”
Child benefit is a monthly payout of €140 for each kid under the age of 16, or 18 if in full-time education or disabled.
