Anyone over the age of 23 can study nursing in Ireland; last date to apply is February 1st

DUBLIN: Universities and the NMBI have opened the door to opportunities for nursing students currently living in Ireland. Anyone over the age of 23 can now apply to study nursing in Ireland. The deadline is February 1st. Candidates will have an online evaluation test.

Applicants over 23 years of age (mature student) also have reservations for Children’s and General Integrated (15%), General (15%), Intellectual Disability (35%), Midwifery (20%) and Psychiatric (35%).

However, applicants can enter the course only if they pass the assessment test prepared with the assistance of NMBI. In addition to applying for nursing admission to the Central Applications Office (CAO), students are also responsible for applying for the assessment test.

The last date to apply for a nursing course through a CEO is February 1st.

Assessment test

Those who want to enter nursing will have to take assessment tests in three subjects. Nursing can be accessed only after successful completion of three tests namely literacy, numeracy and a job simulation test.

The applicant can choose the time of his choice for the online test. There will also be remote proctoring system to oversee the tests online.

The registration and testing window opens on 22 April 2021 at 10am and closes on 28 April 2021 at 1pm.  Candidates should complete their test within this stipulated time.

From April 15, the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Ireland (NMBI) will provide test details and other assistance to applicants. NMBI will also provide practice tests prior to the actual test.
