Called back and then abruptly fired again : Twitter employee

A Twitter employee on an H-1B visa described how he was laid off, called back, and then dismissed again, leaving him with only 60 days to find a new job in the US before his visa expires.

The H-1B visa is a temporary work visa that permits firms in the United States to hire highly skilled individuals. If their employers fire them, H-1B employees have a 60-day grace period during which they can lawfully remain in the United States and look for a new employer that will sponsor their visa.

The Twitter employee who shared the experience on Blind, an anonymous professional network, was laid off in early November and was promised three months’ pay as severance. Twitter let go of thousands of employees in early November at the request of its new owner, Elon Musk. The layoffs, which decreased Twitter’s staff by half, affected about 3,700 people.

Despite the fact that the Blind post was deleted, screenshots were uploaded on Twitter and rapidly went viral.

Hundreds of Twitter employees were dismissed overnight on Wednesday, according to Business Insider. As per accounts, the sacked employees were largely engineers who were notified that they were being put off due to poor performance.
